Glorified bodybuilding in the gym, with some shuttles and a bit of running for fitness.  

This type of training has almost zero carryover to the pitch. 

Training like you always have is not making you stronger and faster.  

It’s making you bigger, slower and less powerful. 


We’ve all played with or against the gym bunny who hits like a 90-year old.

Your training needs to address the demands of the game AND your position:

  • If you're an outside back, you need to maximise your top end speed and agility.

  • If you’re a back rower, you need to be explosive over 0-10m to break the gainline (and defend it).

  • If you jump in the line-out, you need the reactive strength to display speed and height in your jump.

  • Front rowers need absolute strength and power, but also the aerobic capacity to be useful at every breakdown.

You have a huge amount of athletic potential to tap into.  You just need to train smart.
